I don't think anyone is actually reading this yet, so here's a short summary, and the new chapter link is at the bottom!
It takes place in the same universe as ‘Sovereign’, on one of the more technologically advanced, isolated, ‘neutral’ planets refusing to participate in the war. Here, natural mutations form Synergistia - naturally born Genetics with exceptional gifts used to better their society. The Center for Control is responsible for educating rogue Synergistia to become active and fruitful members of society, preventing them from endangering ordinary people with their often explosive talents.
But occasionally Synergistia are born with no limits, and no control save the hope they might find a reciprocal, a match whose Synergistia is the balance and completion of their own.
Indya Yves has been at the Center for six years, alone in a room created specially for him to block his terrifying talent - the ability to read, write and erase thoughts. Unlike a telepath, he can't turn it off, and has no control over it at all, no way to stop himself from overloading on the mental 'noise' surrounding him. The room is both his sanctuary and his prison, keeping him isolated and alone, until the arrival of one Raion Deval.
Raion's never wanted to be different, to have talents he didn't ask for that make him a danger to everyone around him and are, in his opinion, no good to anybody. But his control, too, is minimal, and when he loses it, people die. In the aftermath of a large earthquake he is picked up and taken to the Center, given only two options: cooperate and learn some control, or be drugged with suppressants until his talent is no longer a danger to the outside world.
No one expected them to find each other, and finally find the balance they need. They don't match, but they fit in a way that no one can explain. Raion doesn't actually care about explanations - all he knows is that Indya is his, and nobody's taking him away without a hell of a fight.
